Professional Background
Blake Gibson is an attorney and business leader with decades of experience at the intersection of law, technology, and business operations. He founded Alloy Counsel after serving as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer of a large international software company (1,300+ employees) providing enterprise-critical software to many of the world’s largest financial institutions.
Legal Experience
Blake’s legal practice focuses on the needs of technology-driven businesses, with particular depth in AI, software transactions, and trademark matters. His career includes creating and leading legal teams, directing multi-billion dollar M&A transactions from sourcing to integration, serving as first-chair counsel in over 130 trials and dispositive hearings, and negotiating billions in technology transactions. Blake has provided comprehensive legal counsel across corporate governance, product development, operations, technology transactions, offshoring, information security and privacy, marketing, go-to-market strategies, open source, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and all facets of technology commercialization and compliance. Business Experience
Blake’s perspective extends beyond traditional legal practice. He has served in C-Suite business roles including Head of Product and Chief Operating Officer, leading large 100+ person teams (including a team of several dozen AI scientists) across product development, professional services, operations, and AI initiatives. Prior to practicing law, Blake worked as a software engineer and owned an IT services company.
Approach
Blake’s background as an attorney, former developer, head of product, and COO shapes how he works with clients. He approaches every engagement with an owner-operator mindset, understanding workflows, process efficiency, and how legal and operational decisions impact broader business objectives. His training programs and consulting engagements are practical by design. If it does not work in the real world, it does not make the curriculum.
AI Leadership
Blake has been at the forefront of AI in legal contexts since 2018, helping develop governance frameworks, contract provisions, and adoption strategies long before generative AI became a mainstream concern. Blake has also taught AI adoption to over 1,000 professionals. That early and sustained engagement is the foundation on which Alloy Counsel is built.
Personal
In his spare time, Blake explores emerging technology trends and AI applications, is active in his local church, and enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.
